Mainsoft Appoints E-Business Leader as Vice President of Marketing
Simon L. Peel to Drive Strategic Marketing Initiative
SAN JOSE, Calif., March 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Mainsoft Corporation, the e-porting company, today announced the appointment of Simon L. Peel as vice president of marketing. Peel is the most recent addition to Mainsoft's senior management team as the company ramps up to meet increasing demand for cross-platform solutions. Peel has broad experience in a variety of marketing and management positions, most recently at Vitria Technology and MERANT Inc.
"Mainsoft's business is in an incredible state of growth," said Yaacov Cohen, Mainsoft's chief executive officer. "With the introduction of our e-porting initiative we're rapidly extending our reach into new markets. Simon has a track record of the strategic thinking necessary to exploit Mainsoft's exploding market opportunity and exciting new e-porting initiative."
Peel joins Mainsoft with fourteen years experience in software marketing, strategic planning, product management and engineering. Career highlights include vice president of product marketing for Vitria Technology in Sunnyvale Ca., where he was responsible for rapidly establishing product marketing in the 11th fastest growing company in Silicon Valley and vice president of product management at MERANT Inc. in Mountain View, CA, where he drove global marketing for the $250 million E-Business Application Extension business. Beginning his career in engineering, Peel gained experience in cross platform porting and UNIX product development before launching into marketing.
"With over a million licenses already deployed, Mainsoft is a profitable infrastructure provider fueling its rapid growth by using proven technology to solve real business problems. The opportunity to use strategic marketing to drive the company to even greater levels of success proved irresistible," said Peel. "The company clearly stood out to me as having a passionate and committed management team with a sustainable technology advantage. I was especially impressed with the e-porting vision that will enable Mainsoft to dramatically extend its reach into new market segments."
The e-porting Company
Through its e-porting initiative, Mainsoft is redefining the way companies develop applications for multiple platforms by building the cross-platform foundation for the Internet economy. Windows remains the software development environment of choice but there continues to be strong demand for the resulting production applications to execute on UNIX. Today's market is demanding identical versions of e-business software to be simultaneously available on Windows and multiple UNIX operating systems. Mainsoft's portability platform enables companies to leverage the power of the Windows development environment to deliver cross-platform applications, without the need for a separate and time consuming "porting" effort.
Mainsoft maintains a unique relationship with Microsoft through strategic agreements that have provided Mainsoft with access to Windows source code, including Windows 2000. Mainsoft also works closely with other leading vendors, including Sun Microsystems, Hewlett-Packard, Intel and IBM, to extend the operability of applications to the UNIX platforms.
