Technology Veteran Joins Mainsoft as Chairman

Venture Capitalist and Intel Alumni, J. Michael Gullard, Appointed to Chairman; Yaacov Cohen Promoted to CEO

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Mainsoft Corporation, the e-porting company, today announced the appointment of J. Michael Gullard as chairman of the board and the promotion of Yaacov Cohen, the current president and chief operating officer, to president and chief executive officer. These appointments strengthen Mainsoft's leadership position in the application porting industry. Following Mainsoft's strong sales and customer growth in 2000, the company is building its management team to support the upcoming implementation of its e-porting and Web services initiative.

"Mainsoft is building a team of seasoned and innovative leaders who have the vision to provide porting as a Web service," said Gadi Goldstein, president of Formula Systems and chairman of Crystal Systems, the major investor in Mainsoft. "Michael Gullard's business acumen gained from his experience on boards of technology companies like MERANT and NetSolve will guide Mainsoft's growth. Yaacov Cohen's success with growing revenues and achieving profitability as president and former COO of Mainsoft, make him a natural choice to steer the company through the new market strategy of e-porting."

Prior to joining Mainsoft, Gullard spent nearly three decades in the technology industry, holding executive and management posts at Telecommunications Technology Inc. and Intel Corporation. He is a general partner of Cornerstone Management, a venture capital firm that provides strategic focus and direction for technology companies in the software and data communication industries. Gullard is also Chairman of MERANT and NetSolve Inc., as well as a director of JDA Software Group, Inc. With this experience, Gullard brings an immeasurable understanding of the software development industry and the challenges Mainsoft will face while achieving its next phase of expansion into Web services for application porting.

"I'm impressed with Mainsoft's solid leadership position in application porting," said Gullard. "The company is providing a unique solution for today's cross platform environment -- without it, porting can be an expensive and time consuming process for software developers."

A veteran leader at Mainsoft, Cohen has successfully directed the company to a path of solid revenue growth and sustained profitability and has initiated the e-porting strategy. Before his tenure as president and chief operating officer, he was executive vice president and CTO, tasked with building Mainsoft's R&D center and leading the development of the e-porting platform. Cohen's leadership experience was honed in technical positions for one of Israel's largest software companies and the Israeli Navy Computer Center. He graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from Technion, Israel Institute of Technology.

"2000 was an exciting year for the company," said Cohen. "In the past six months, Mainsoft introduced its e-porting initiative and built on this promise with the release of our new product, Visual MainWin. My goal is to continue to profitably lead the company and to make Mainsoft's e-porting the first solution for software developers faced with a cross-platform challenge."

The e-Porting Company

Through its e-porting initiative, Mainsoft is simplifying the way companies develop applications for multiple platforms. Mainsoft's e-porting provides the cross-platform foundation for Internet applications. Despite robust demand for UNIX applications, the Windows API remains the software development environment of choice in the industry. Increasing numbers of large and small e-businesses require identical Windows and UNIX versions of software. Mainsoft offers products which allow companies to write applications for the Windows environment that can be simultaneously ported to UNIX platforms.

Mainsoft maintains a unique relationship with Microsoft through strategic agreements that have provided Mainsoft with access to Windows source code, including Windows 2000. Mainsoft has incorporated several million lines of original Windows source code into Visual MainWin. Mainsoft also works closely with other vendors, including Sun Microsystems, Hewlett Packard, Intel and IBM, to extend the operability of applications to the UNIX platforms.
